Toji Kamata
Professor Emeritus, Kyoto University
Born in 1951 in Kuwano Town, Anan City, Tokushima Prefecture, he published two books as his last will and testament in 2003: “Mythology of Grief and Care: Susanoo and Okuninushi” (Shunju-sha), and his seventh collection of poems, “The Return of Life (The people of the Port)”. Graduated from Kokugakuin University, Department of Philosophy, Faculty of Letters. Dropped out from the Doctorate program in Philosophy from Kokugakuin University and Social Environment and Life Science, Graduate School of Medical and Dental Sciences, Okayama University.
Doctor in Philosophy of Religion, Ethnography and Comparative Civilization, and Care Studies at University of Tsukuba. Professor Emeritus at Kyoto University. Visiting professor at Tenri University. Ishibue (stone flute), Yokobue (transverse flute), and Horaigai (conch shell) player. Freelance Shinto priest, Shinto songwriter and bard.
Author of "Fieldwork in the Divine World," The Odo Theory" tetralogy, “Religion and Spirituality”, “The Theory of the Spell-Killer/Magical Realm,” “The Land Where God and Buddha Meet,” “The Modern Theory of Shinto”, “The Idea of World Reformation”, “Zeami”, and “The Thought of Words and Spirits”.
Released his third album “Zettai Zetsumei” in July 2022.
In 2023, he become a stage IV "Gan Yuu Shijin" (cancer poet) and travel around the world.
